Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi said Thursday that the Pakistani government should take serious measures to stem terrorist activities across the borderline of the two countries, local satellite Press TV reported.

"The Pakistani government is expected to … take more serious measures to stem the terrorist and evil activities," Qashqavi told reporters in the southeastern city of Zahedan.

To pursue those who flee to the Pakistani territory after inciting terrorist activities in Iran has always been under discussions of Iranian and Pakistani high-ranking officials, Qashqavi said.

"Restoration of security to Iran's long borders with Afghanistan and Pakistan is in the best national and regional interest," he said.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki's upcoming visit to Islamabad is aimed at reviewing issues related to the borders security, particularly dealing with the terrorist groups, he added without further elaboration.

Iran is located at the crossroad of international drug smuggling from Afghanistan, the world's top opium producer, to Europe. Iran's borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan have been the scene of clashes between security forces and terrorist groups.
